Flower Tutorial

I wanted to show you how to create the flower that was on my card from earlier this week.

This is my first tutorial, so I hope you enjoy it!

The materials you will need are:
(All materials are from Stampin' Up!)
Five Petal Punch
3/4 Inch Circle Punch
1/2 Inch Circle Punch
Craft and Rubber Scissors
Circle Rhinestone Brads (I use Ice Circles)
Bone Folder
Designer Series Paper (Berry Bliss)
and two coordinating colors of Card Stock (Purely Pomegranate and Old Olive)

Use the Five Petal Punch to punch out a flower from the DSP and Card Stock color #1. Punch a 3/4 inch circle from card stock color #2 and a 1/2 inch circle from Card Stock color #1

Layer the two circles together and use the Crop-A-Dile to punch an 1/8 hole in the center. Attach a Rhinestone Brad to the circles. You may need to use your Craft and Rubber Scissors to cut the excess from the prongs of the brad.

Layer the two flowers together with the DSP on top and so that you can see all the petals. Attach circles in the center with a dimensional.

Use your bone folder to curl the petals of the DSP slightly (as you would use scissors to curl ribbon).

And you're done! Just attach your flower to your card or scrapbook page.

Here are some other flowers I created for a scrapbook page.

Target Dollar Spot Find

Sunday the family went to Target so that I could get some shelving for my stamp room. They had these galvanized buckets in the dollar spot, so of course I had to buy some! I was looking at them today and decided that they needed a little jazzing up. I pulled out some rub-ons and went to work. These are from the A Perfect Day rub-ons that were in the Spring Mini. I think I might tie some ribbons around the handles, too, depending on what I decide to use it for.

I still have some of the SAB rub-ons that I think I will try on another of the buckets.

2 Sketches 4 You

I found the blog 2 Sketches 4 You a while ago. I love their sketches, but this is the first time I have actually created a card using one of their sketches! This was a pretty quick card for me. I will have instructions on how I created the flower later this week.

Supplies used were: Warm Words stamp set; Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate and Old Olive card stock; Chocolate Chip Classic Ink; Berry Bliss DSP; Ice Rhinestone Brads; Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon; Five Petal, 3/4 inch Circle and 1/2 inch Circle Punches; Dimensionals.

Too Funny!

Another Demo emailed this cartoon to me. I thought it was too funny not to share. She got it from someone's blog but didn't say who, so if this is your work, let me know so I can give you credit!

I have to admit when I see the UPS truck, I watch to see if he will stop at my house even if I am not expecting something! He will be stopping for sure on Tuesday with my new Catalog sneak peak order. I can't wait!

Until then, I am working on a big project! I am hoping that I will have info to share with you next week!

Playing with My New Stamps

I don't have my preview sets from the new catalog yet, but last week I got sets that I earned for my sales and recruiting during Sale-a-Bration. I love free stuff! Punch Pals was one of the sets that I got. I have been looking at this set since it came out, and I finally decided to get it. The images are so cute and many of them coordinate with our punches.

This is the first chance I have had to play with my new sets. They even sat around for a few days before I mounted them. Gasp!!! I guess that's life with a soon to be one year old! Today I made myself clean up my stamp room before I could stamp. Although I really didn't have a choice since my stamp room is also the guest room, I had to get the bed cleaned off so my mom will have a place to sleep tonight! Now that it's done, it is much nicer working in there. I am planning on doing some reorganizing, but since it is almost back to school time I am waiting for organizational stuff to go on sale.

So, here is my card. I stamped the tree image with Black Staz-On and water colored using my stamp pads and AquaPainter. I used the Naturals White card stock to watercolor on. This is almost always my choice when I am water coloring.

Materials used for the card were: Always Artichoke, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip and Naturals White card stock; Always Artichoke, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron and Bashful Blue Classic Ink; Versa Mark; Jet Black Staz-On; Chocolate Chip marker; White Embossing Powder; Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon.

Doodle This

It's time again for another color challenge from Kristina Werner! I love these colors and I love this dress! I have not used Sage Shadow in forever. That is what I love about doing Kristina's color challenges. I am forced to use colors that I probably would not have pulled out of the drawer.

For my card this week I used Doodle This stamp set. I used the corner rounder to make my scallops, as my new Scallop Punch has not arrived yet. I just couldn't make up my mind what I wanted to order. I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but I accented my flower using the VersaMarker (the edges of the flower not accented with white and the outside edge of the Sage Shadow center).

Anyway, back to the card. Other supplies I used were: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Sage Shadow and Whisper White card stock; Jet Black Staz-On and Whisper White Craft ink; white gel pen; VersaMarker; Regal Rose Grosgrain ribbon; Dimensionals.

More Simply Scrappin' Kit

While we were on vacation last week I got out my Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit and made some cards. I have used up almost all of the card stock other than some scraps so I had to use some additional card stock. My 11 year old niece Skylar made some cards with me, too.

Here she is with the cards she made.

Here are the cards that I made. I used Circle of Friendship (soon to be retired), circle punches and ribbon in addition to the Kit. I am having trouble posting all of the pictures, so I'll have to do another post. These are all 3x3 cards.

Color Challenge

Kristina's Collor Challenge this week was way outside my comfort zone. This color combination is not one that I would ever have thought to use, but my card came together fairly quickly. The colors for this challenge were:

Chocolate Chip

Close to Cocoa

Really Rust

Certainly Celery

Whisper White

Since I was already working outside my comfort zone, I decided to pull out a set that I don't use much. We got Wanted last year at convention an except for the large round medallion stamp I don't know what to do with this set.

Supplies for this card:

Wanted and Happy Everything; Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, and Close to Cocoa card stock; Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, and Close to Cocoa Classic stamp pads; Certainly Celery Prints DSP; Whisper White Ribbon; Stampin' Dimensionals; 3/4 in Square Punch.

The other color challenge card

Here is the first card I made for Kristina's color challenge last week. The challenge was River Rock, Purely Pomegranate, Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White. I also added Chocolate Chip to this card.

Materials for this card are: Eat Cake; Purely Pomegranate , River Rock Regal Rose, and Whisper White Card Stock; Purely Pomegranate, Regal Rose Classic Stamp Pads; Chocolate Chip and Regal Rose Stampin' Write Markers; Wild Wasabi Double Stitched Ribbon; Stampin' Demensionnals.

So, what do you think of this card?

Long Notes Album

Another project from my Simply Scrapping kit! This time I copied an idea that was in Stampin' Success, a magazine for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. I used the Long Notes (p. 167) to make a mini album. In addition to the Long Notes I used Regal Rose 5/8 Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brads, and Scallop, Round Tab and Circle Punches. Everything else you see is from the Kit.

I used the paper peircing tool and some linen tread to bind the two Long Notes and form the book.

I still have more of the Kit left, but I just don't know if I can use everything! I'm taking the kit with me on vacation, so next week I'll let you know if I was successful!

Coaster Box

So, the other day my husband emailed me from work and said that he really needed something to keep his pens in and could I make him something? Well, of course I said that I might have a "few" things I could use to whip something up! I had been thinking about making him a picture frame using the On Board Book Basics and the East Coast Prep Designer Paper, but since he had asked for a pen holder, I decided to combine the two.

I started with five square coasters that I have had around for a while and never used for anything. I covered four of the coasters with different patterns of the designer paper. To adhere the paper, I use a Stampin' Up! Glue Stick and then roll over it with a brayer after I have positioned the paper on the coaster. Be generous with the glue and you won't have any problems with the paper staying on the coaster. I mounted my pictures on coordinating card stock and attached them to the coasters before I started assembling the box.

I punched holes in the corners of each coaster using my Crop-A-Dile. Most of the boxes I have seen like this use ribbon to attach all the coasters together, but since this was for my husband, I used some jump rings I bought for jewelry making and have never used. I attached the bottom of the box by pushing the fifth coaster up into the box a bit and then gluing small strips of card stock to both the bottom and the sides of the box.

After I took the pictures, I thought that the box might be a bit too big for a pen holder, so I took another coaster and trimmed about half an inch off and used it to create a divider in the box. I attached the divider piece to the sides of the box using packing tape. This way, my husband can put pens in one side and post-its in the other.

I just got a peak at the new catalog!

I just got to check out some of the new sets, accessories and hostess sets that will be in the new catalog! I have to say, I think you are going to LOVE the new catalog! Of course, I been a demonstrator for five years and they just keep getting better!

Plus, Stampin' Up! has announced that all NEW sets in the catalog will be die-cut! (All of the sets from previuos catalogs will still need to be trimed before assembling the stamp sets.)

I ordered a couple of things, and you will see some samples of what I do with them once they arrive!

If you want to get a copy of the new catalog email me about joining my stamp club or booking a workshop!
