Color Inspiration

Kristina's got another great color inspiration this week. I decided to use Kiwi Kiss for my green. I thought that this color combo would be great for a card using Wild About You. I'm not otherwise a fan of alligators, but I just love this little guy! I tend to use the alligator way more than any of the other stamps in this set. (I believe there was a bit of eye rolling at my recent class when there was yet another alligator card!)

I'm waiting for the UPS man to deliver some stamps and paper from the new catalog, so be sure to check back soon for some samples! I'll also be posting info tomorrow about my Super Stamping Bowl, so if you live in the Winston-Salem area be sure to check that out. It will be a blast!

Materials for this card: Wild About You stamp set; So Saffron, Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White card stock; Basic Black, Real Red and Kiwi Kiss Classic ink; Kiwi Kiss Patterns DSP; Real Red 5/8 inch grosgrain ribbon; Rich Regals Brads; Crafter's Tool Kit; Stampin' Dimensionals.

Scrapbooking

Well, I did it. I created two scrapbook pages this month! Saturday, while my husband and daughter were visiting family, I had my birthday Stamp-A-Stack in the morning and then my friend Sam stayed after class to scrapbook.
This page took me a while to finish. (That may have had something to do with the amount of talking that Sam and I were doing.) I used a sketch from my new Beck Fleck Page Maps book. The materials for this page are: Life's a Breeze, Schoolbook Serif Alphabet, Schoolbook Serif Numbers and Calendar Alphabet and Numbers stamp sets; Tempting Turquoise, Ballet Blue, Green Galore, So Saffron and Whisper White card stock; Tempting Turquoise, Regal Rose, Ballet Blue and So Saffron Classic Ink; Something Fishy Jumbo Wheel; Jumbo handle; uninked jumbo cartridge; Tempting Turquoise refill.

My second page of the day was so much easier to create. I think that has to do with using a Simply Scrappin' Kit. I used the Summer Home kit that just retired. (Sigh....) I used another one of Becky Fleck's Page maps for this layout. There is actually no stamping on this page! Everything I used is from the Kit. Gotta love that!

Color Inspiration

I really don't know where this week has gone. I think I spent most of it drooling over the new catalog! I've managed to make only one card this week for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration. I'm very excited because tomorrow my husband and daughter will be gone for the day, so after my class tomorrow morning I am free to stamp the day away (uninterrupted)! Hopefully I'll get lots of projects done to share with you.

Here is my card for Kristina's Color Inspiration. Just like last week, I used a set I had borrowed from my mom and a technique I haven't used in a while. I used the set Fresh Cuts and Poppin' Pastels. It's been so long since I have made a card using the Poppin' Pastels technique, that I had to stop and think about where my pastels were! I used Ruby Red, Pretty in Pink and Pumpkin Pie pastels and sponge daubers to dab and blend after I stamped the image with VersaMark.

Materials for this card are: Fresh Cuts stamp set; Pretty in Pink, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White card stock; Pretty in Pink Classic ink; VersaMark pad; Stampin' Pastels; Pretty in Pink Grosgrain ribbon; Scallop Edge Punch; Stampin' Dimensionals.

Oh My!

The UPS man arrived this afternoon with my new Spring and Summer Idea Book and Catalog! Yeah! I've looked through it once and as always it is wonderful. Not only are there new stamps and accessories, but of course there are all the wonderful samples to look at, too! I have already seen so many layouts and color combinations I want to try. I've also got lots of ideas swirling in my head for upcoming classes!

If you would like to get one of the new Idea Book and Catalogs for free, email me today!

New Catalog and a Color Inspiration

The new Idea Book and Catalog is almost here. I always look forward to getting the new catalog and seeing all of the new ideas and products that are in it. Plus all of the new stamp sets!

Would you like to have a new catalog for free? I will give you one for free, but I just ask that we have a short phone conversation first. If you would like for me to send you a new catalog all you need to do is email me with your name and phone number and the best time to call you.

Now on to the card. I was so sad to miss Kristina's Color Inspiration last week. The colors were so beautiful, but we were visiting family and I couldn't bring all of my stamping stuff with me. (Believe me, I tried to think of a way to bring enough stuff to be prepared for whatever the Inspiration was, but I would have had to leave hubby and daughter at home to fit it all in the car! ;)) But Kristina is back with another great Color Inspiration this week and I had a lot of fun making this card. I borrowed some stamp sets from my mom, so I had something new to play with!

I used this month's sketch from Sheet Load of Cards and I also used a couple of techniques I haven't used in a while on this card. First, I crumpled the Baja Breeze layer and then I used the stamp pad to apply ink randomly to the card stock. On the stamped image I inked up the stamp with Baja Breeze and then I took my Stipple Brush and dabbed on some Chocolate Chip ink around the edges.

Materials for this card are: Happiness is a Journey stamp set; Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White card stock; Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip Classic ink; Bella Rose DSP; Silver Brads; Hemp Twine; Stampin' Demensionals; Crafter's Tool Kit; Stipple Brush.

2009 Goals

I've never been one for keeping New Year's Resolutions. I make them most every year, but I rarely end up keeping them. This year, I decided to take a different approach and I set goals for 2009. I made a list of the things I would like to accomplish or many of those things I've been meaning to do or try. One of the goals that I set for this year is that I am going to create at least two scrapbook pages each month.

I got Becky Fleck's Scrapbook Page Maps for Christmas (thanks sis!) and I hope this will help inspire me. The book also has a set of "flash cards" that come with it, so when I travel or go to a crop, I don't have to take the whole book with me.

You get a benefit from my goal too, since along with all of my other cards and tips, I'll be posting the pages I create! I hope that by going public with my goal, that I'll have even more incentive to stick with it.

Did you make any crafting goals or resolutions for 2009?

Happy New Year!

I can't believe it's 2009! It has been almost a year since I started this blog! I hope that everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Year's. I had every intention of writing some posts but with family at our house last week and our trip to the beach this week, I just never got around to it. I was just having too much fun with our family.

Now that it's after Christmas I can definitely show you our Christmas card with out spoiling it for anyone. I actually made a couple of different cards including some using a retired Christmas Simply Scrappin' Kit that I've had around. I only managed to take a picture of this one card. I had all of the other cards sealed up in the envelopes and realized that I had never taken any pictures!

I used Punch Pals for this card. This year, I created my card only using materials that I had on hand, so this cards uses the retired Old Olive Prints designer paper. One of the reasons I chose the color scheme that I did was that I had two almost full spools of the Mellow Moss ribbon.

The materials for this card are: Punch Pals stamp set; Kraft, Basic Grey, Real Red and Whisper White card stock; Black Staz-On and Bashful Blue Classic Ink; Bashful Blue, Going Gray, Old Olive, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Markers; Old Olive Prints DSP (retired); Word Window Punch; Mellow Moss grosgrain ribbon.
